Grounder Wide of First — Pitcher Covers
1B fields → P covers first (3-1)
A ground ball pulls the first baseman off the bag to his right. The pitcher breaks for first the instant the ball is hit to the right side, takes the underhand flip on the run, and finds the bag.

Coaching notes
The pitcher's first move on ANY ball hit to the right side is toward first base — every time, even when the first baseman ends up making the play himself.
'Get over there' reps: coach rolls balls at the first baseman, pitcher sprints and takes the flip at the bag — fifteen in a row, no walking.
Pitchers running straight at the bag and colliding with the runner — teach the banana path so they arrive moving up the line, not across it.
